I must confess, this is the real reason that Rock the Boat will be moving to RockTheBoatBlog.com on Monday, October 6th. I can’t allow myself to me associated with Bill Ayers. And of course, being hosted by the same server and using the same software as William Ayers must mean I am a terrorist.

It’s apparent that Dave is still angry about McCain’s snub, nd rightfully so.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama’s political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating “with terrorists who targeted their own country.”

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lashed out at Sen. Barack Obama’s ties to controversial figure William Ayers.

Palin’s attack delivered on the McCain campaign’s announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

Palin cited a New York Times article which noted that Senator Obama lives in the same neighborhood as Ayes. But even that article has noted that any attempts to associate Obama and Ayers are a fallacy.

[T]hat article concluded that “the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called ‘somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.’ “

Several other publications, including the Washington Post, Time magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The National Review, have debunked the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship.

Let’s be honest with one another. This attack is not about William Ayers. Its about racism. When Palin accuses a black American named Barack Obama of “associating with terrorists”, she isn’t trying to make her audience think of Bill Ayers. She is attempting to associate Senator Obama with Osama bin Laden and other muslim terrorists.

But let’s delve a little deeper. What he see here is another sign of desperation from the McCain campaign, coming on the heels of news earlier this week that they would be pulling their campaign staff out of Michigan. Its another hail mary. McCain sees the writing on the wall. They understand that without a serious game-changer, Obama has this one in the bag. The fact that CNN is already reporting this as bunk illustrates that this tactic is dead in the water.
